Golf Trips to Spain

Spain is where sunshine, Mediterranean scenery, and an easygoing culture merge to create an unforgettable golf experience. From the golden beaches and resort courses of the Costa del Sol to the lively coastline and architectural brilliance surrounding Barcelona, the country offers a wealth of inspiring contrasts that elevate every trip.

Some of Europe’s top courses call Spain home, including Real Club Valderrama, Sotogrande, Camiral’s Stadium Course, and Real Club de Golf El Prat—all of which can be seamlessly added to your custom itinerary. Beyond the golf, Spain invites you to enjoy tapas, wine, historic towns, modernist architecture, flamenco, and timeless coastal villages. Every element can be woven into a trip tailored to you.

Below, you’ll find a guide to planning your golf trip to Spain, including top-course overviews, an interactive map (desktop only) with driving distances, weather insights, and more. Scroll down to explore—your Spanish golf adventure starts here.

Additional Travel Information

FINDING THE RIGHT PLACE TO STAY

Where should I stay?

Hotel accommodations in Spain vary widely, but golf resorts generally provide spacious, comfortable rooms well-suited to international visitors. While city hotels in Madrid, Barcelona, or Seville may feature smaller rooms and bathrooms, typical of older European buildings, resorts along the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, and in Andalusia often offer generous layouts, modern amenities, and views of the course or Mediterranean coast. Beds may occasionally be arranged as two twins pushed together, and bathrooms can be more compact than in U.S. hotels, though most resorts provide full facilities and high standards of cleanliness. Air conditioning is common in golf resorts. Spanish resorts excel in combining luxury accommodations with excellent dining, wine, and on-site golf experiences, making them ideal for travelers who want to enjoy championship courses alongside leisure and local culture.

HOW TO GET AROUNDS

What do other groups do?

We offer two modes of transportation in Scotland, all of which are described below. Our Golf Travel Advisors can assist in evaluating what option is best for your group.
Car Rental Fill icon

Rental Vehicle

Most people have rented a car and know what to expect. It’s no different outside of North America. Do note that a group of 4 golfers with clubs and luggage will often not fit comfortably in a typical minivan or SUV. For such groups, we use full-size fans with 7-9 seats.
Pros
  • Autonomy/Flexibility
  • Cost
Cons
  • Dealing with busy roundabouts and narrow roads in the cities
  • Fender benders and dealing with insurance if something happens
  • Some regions have significant highway tolls
  • Gasoline and diesel are more expensive than in the US

Private Group Transfers

For those who prefer not to rent a car, we can arrange private group transfers so that our driver will be waiting for your group upon your arrival at the airport, and we will provide a transfer to each course and then back to the airport. You will have to stick to specific pick-up and drop off times, but we will let you choose those (in advance) in case you want a few pints after your round. You can always add a full-day of the vehicle and driver in case you or others in the group want to do some sightseeing. We work with transportation providers that have the nicest vehicles in Spain.
Weather in Spain

Annual Temperature, Precipitation, and Daylight

The below chart contains the weather information that most golfers are interested in knowing when planning a trip to Spain. The data below is for Marbella (Costa del Sol). The weather in the Barcelona area is essentially the same although it is  few degrees cooler and gets a bit more rainfall than Marbella during the spring and summer. In general, Madrid is a few to a handful of degrees warmer than Marbella and gets about the same amount of rain as Marbella. We organize golf trips to Spain year round although not many travel in January, February, or March. Weather is only one of the factors to consider when planning a trip. Be sure to get advice from your Golf Travel Advisor on the other factors (e.g., course closures and availability). Don't make the mistake of choosing your month of travel only based on the weather!
