Despite only being 45 minutes from Barcelona, Camiral feels secluded from the outside world. Located at the foothills of the Pyrenees, this area escapes some of the high heat that characterizes the rest of Spain during the summer months. Camiral, with its two courses, is considered the No 1 golf resort in Spain. The Stadium Course is the result of many years of planning and design by the European Tour. A past host site of the Open de Espana, it has been ranked in Europe’s top-100 since opening in 1998. It will host the Ryder Cup in 2031. The second course, The Tour course, is equally worth playing.
Be warned, however, the beauty of the Stadium can distract from the many dangers waiting to do serious damage to your scorecard. It makes no concessions with its trees pressing onto fairways, strategically placed bunkers and lakes that come into play on no fewer than seven of the toughest holes.
