The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh was instituted in 1735 and is widely recognised as the oldest golf club in the world. The Course at Barnton is a real pleasure to play for golfers of all abilities. Situated in beautiful parkland, it is hard to imagine you are so close to the heart of Edinburgh and only 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport.
The Clubhouse at Barnton is, after our superb course, the real jewel in the crown of The Royal Burgess Golfing Society.
An outstanding example of ‘Arts and Crafts’ architecture from the late Victorian period, it combines glorious period detail with contemporary comfort. Ours is a building that has stood the test of time and continues to delight and fascinate, especially with our collection of paintings and rare golfing memorabilia and trophies.

Fun Fact:
Our Starter rings the Old Barnton Bell to indicate your are ready to tee off on the 1st tee.
