Overview

Experience the refined charm of Rio Real Golf, an exceptional course envisioned by the legendary Javier Arana, widely regarded as one of Spain’s greatest golf architects.

Set within Marbella’s most prestigious enclave and only five minutes from the lively town center, this iconic course—opened in 1965—unfolds gracefully alongside the Rio Real river from which it takes its name. The natural waterway accompanies the layout all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, creating a setting that feels both dramatic and serene.

This striking 18-hole, par-72 course stretches over 6,600 yard and is celebrated by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation as one of the country’s finest, thanks to its beautifully balanced design and unmistakable character. A rich mix of trees—pines, palms, casuarinas, olive trees, cypresses and more—surrounds the fairways, crafting a lush and tranquil environment ideal for golfing on foot or by buggy.

With Marbella’s privileged Mediterranean climate, the course can be enjoyed year-round, offering several sea-facing holes with spectacular coastal views.

Rio Real Golf appeals to golfers of every skill level. Its elevated greens and varied terrain invite the strategic use of multiple clubs, turning each round into an inspiring and memorable challenge.
