Dooks Golf Club was opened in 1889 and redesigned by Donald Steele in 2002 near Dingle Bay in southwest Ireland. Many consider it to be as fine a setting for a scenic golf links as anyplace in Ireland because of the endless views out over the peninsula and bays. When you think of hidden gems in golf, Dooks often comes to mind!
The course stretches from 5,379 to 6,586, not long by today’s standards but plenty challenging with the wind and hollows that constantly challenge your score. A few carts are available so it is a good place to rest your legs one day while enjoying a beautiful course. Of course, Dooks is best known for being one of those “hidden gems” although lots of people think the secret will be out soon enough and the demand for tee times will raise accordingly.
All in all, Dooks is a great day of golf or a superb choice for an afternoon round with carts after battling nearby links such as Tralee or Ballybunion.
