Overview:

One of the finest links golf courses in the world, Royal Birkdale GC is always the most requested in the UK. By all means, if you are planning a England golf tour then make sure to include Royal Birkdale in your golf package!

Birkdale is located in Southport, England less than an hour from Liverpool. It has been the site of the Open Championship ten times from 1954 to 2017. Won by the likes of Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and the most recent champion being Jordan Speith, several of golf’s finest have laid claim to the title at Birkdale. Royal Birkdale has also hosted The Ryder Cup, the Walker Cup, the Curtis Cup and the Ladies Open.

Guests normally play the course from the standard yellow tees at 6,381 yards, or the red tees at 5,793 yards. Visitors rarely get a glimpse of the Open medal tees that tip out at 7,156 yards. One of Royal Birkdale’s unique characteristics are the high dunes. The dunes separate each hole and block any sight of other golfers on the course!

Some don’t like the exterior style of the art-deco clubhouse. It has even been considered to resemble a “space ship”. However, you should trust us when we say that inside is truly special. Another highlight at Royal Birkdale is the plaque along the 16th hole where Arnold Palmer made a miraculous approach shot. During the 1969 Ryder Cup, the famed Jack Nicklaus to Tony Jacklin “concession,” an act of admirable sportsmanship took place on the 18th green.

Birkdale is ranked #40 in the world by GOLF Magazine. Most consider Royal Birkdale to be the finest links in England. Trust us when we say nobody at Pioneer Golf would argue!

Reserve a tee time at Royal Birkdale and see all England’s Golf Coast has to offer.

Testimonials

“Thanks for organizing an amazing golf tour to Scotland. First of all, the course we played all exceeded expectations. Royal Dornoch is a jewel and Carnoustie in the wind and rain was truly the monster it is made out to be.  But standing on the first tee at the old course made it the golf trip of a lifetime.
