Kooyonga Golf Club is a classic traditional course located just a short drive from the center of Adelaide. The course was named under the impression that Kooyonga was the Aborigine word for “plenty sand, plenty water.” This turned out to be incorrect, but the name stuck.
Kooyonga has hosted several Australian Opens, including most recently the 2018 Women’s Australian Open.
“While the Old Course was definitely on my bucket list and the most revered place in golf history, we really enjoyed the two courses in the Highlands, Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart, as they are a very different style of links courses from Carnoustie and St Andrews courses.”
