Originally the site of two modest 18-hole courses, the sandy ground at Rosapenna’s St. Patrick’s Links lay dormant for years, waiting for the right hands to unlock its potential. That opportunity arrived when acclaimed golf course architect Tom Doak was commissioned to bring the landscape to life. Doak, whose portfolio includes Pacific Dunes and Barnbougle Dunes, quickly recognized the extraordinary natural contours and sweeping coastal vistas that would allow for a world-class links to emerge.
Working closely with nature, Doak and his team shaped a dramatic course that feels as though it has existed along Sheephaven Bay for centuries. The routing cleverly uses the natural ridges, valleys, and dunes, offering expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Donegal coastline at nearly every turn. Wide fairways, deep bunkering, and large, rolling greens make for a strategic test of golf that rewards creativity and bold shot-making.
Since opening in 2021, St. Patrick’s Links has been celebrated as one of the finest new courses in the world, with critics praising its blend of raw beauty, intelligent design, and thrilling shot values. Seamlessly integrated into Rosapenna’s historic property, St. Patrick’s Links is a modern masterpiece that perfectly complements the venerable Old Tom Morris Links and Sandy Hills Links, further solidifying Rosapenna’s reputation as one of Ireland’s premier golf destinations.
“I wanted to let you know that everything on the trip was perfect—from the accommodations and golf to the bus driver and weather—I couldn’t have asked for a better-planned trip. Thank you so much.”
