Who this course is best for:

An Ireland golf tour group looking to play an Alister Mackenzie famed links course ranked in the world top 100 golf courses.

Overview:

No Ireland golf package would not be complete without a round at the iconic Lahinch GC Old Course located on the Irish coast less than an hour from Shannon Airport. Known for stunning views of the Atlantic and the Cliffs of Moher, and the iconic goats that patrol the course. Lahinch is truly a magnificent oceanfront links course worthy of a visit from any golfer. GOLF Magazine currently has Lahinch ranked #36 in the world.

Famed for the back to back “blind” holes Klondike (4th) and Dell (5th), Lahinch evolved over time into the course it is today. Later, in 1895 after designing the new links course, Old Tom Morris stated it was “the finest natural course he had ever seen”. Finally, in 1928 Alister Mackenzie’s tweeks turned Lahinch into the course you see today. The Irish Open was staged here in 2019 and won by Jon Rahm with a spectacular final round 62.

Lahinch GC Old Course stretches from 5502 to 6950 yards. However, most visitors play the 6339-6613 sets of tees, which is plenty of challenge for anyone!

The goats you ask?  They are incorporated into the club logo, and legend says if they are grazing in the dunes the weather will be ok, but if they start to gather beside the clubhouse then the rain is on the way!

Hogan’s Alley:

“Lahinch is tight and tough and an excellent challenge for all, even on a calm day! You’ll love the 5th hole, aka ‘The Dell’, where you will try to aim over the white rock indicating the pin. Then walk around the dune to see who is closest! What I like best about Lahinch is the classic design and the quaint, old-school feel to the club and town. This is a must play course in southwest Ireland!”
